The 2017 Vintage

We have been very pleased with the quality, flavour and colour from the grapes this year and are looking forward to sharing these wines with you into the future.

With 114.5mm of rain from 29/12/2016 until end February 2017, we were in great shape for a very successful 2017 harvest.   Picking almost a month later than in 2016, we welcomed the cooler days, with very few picking days over 40+ degrees.

We had a fantastic crew join us this year, with a big thank you to Tom and Joel for their dedication to supporting Tracie throughout the days on the vineyard and the harvest processing phase with Peter, and my mum – Barbara. At 78 years old she continues to soldier on and keeps the pace for all of us to follow her (even Peter)! She is an inspiration to all who meet her and she has been a tower of support as our 2017 Catering Manager providing us delicious meals, drinks and other incidentals throughout the harvest and processing of vintage.

Due to very dry conditions in 2016, we pruned the vines quite hard in winter last year. Consequently, we had smaller yields of Viognier, Grenache, Tempranillo and Mourvedre picked this vintage, however, there is some beautiful characteristics of these wines and we look forward to creating elegant small batch straight grape varietals and red blends from these vines in the future.
