A Note from our Winemakers – Peter and Tracie

Creating this very special first Fortified Shiraz has been a labour of love over the past two years for our winemaker – Peter. For those that have had the pleasure of coming to our Cellar Door and sampling this fortified wine straight out of the barrel over the past 12+ months, we can assure you it’s even better than when you tasted it! It has beautifully developed over time and is now a refined piece of artisan workmanship in a bottle.
Rich, luscious, chocolate, black currant, plums, smooth, easy drinking and a stunning blood red colour. This is purity in a glass @ 18.5% alcohol.

Stunning, delectable, delicious, can’t buy just one bottle of this! In most instances more than one bottles was purchased per transaction.
Some suggested serving ideas is with chocolate – Chocolate brownie, Ganache, chocolate mousse, Lindt Chocolate balls and a luscious glass of Serious Business………. A beautiful cheese board, or even having just a night cap or two of an evening. Now who can beat that kind of end of the day indulgence at this time of year?

Geology / Soil Profile: Deep, red rocky clay loam (derived from Cambrian Rock)
Viticulture Practices: Un-irrigated vineyards, zero tillage, grass sward between rows, cane pruned
Yields: 1.0 tonne/acre

2019 Vintage Notes:
The 2019 vintage was a very hot season throughout February and March during harvest and having a dry-grown vineyard there was a lot of high quality, dark black grapes picked off the vines. This has created many sensational 2019 wines for our Silver Spoon Estate Wine Lovers of our big, chocolate, spicy shiraz wines and a perfect year for creating our first fortified shiraz.
