Dark ruby in colour, full-bodied, with aromas of rose petals, sour cherry and plum. It’s supple and velvet-like on the pallet with great length and elegance, with many years cellaring potential.

The 2016 Vintage:
2016 was a warm dry year with lower yields and rapid fruit ripening. There was very low disease pressure. Berries were small and nested in open bunches.
The Vineyard:
The fruit was sourced from BVRC30 Shiraz clones on the south facing block on our Dowds Lane vineyard. The vines are unirrigated and very low yielding. They are cane-pruned by hand and wrapped to a single wire trellis to encourage some bunch shading during the heat of summer.
The Winemaking:
The grapes were hand-picked, fermented in small open vats for two weeks, basket pressed, and aged in a single new French oak barrique for 18 months. The wine is neither filtered nor fined.
