The wine is bright in the glass, displaying a pale salmon hue. There are refreshing aromas of musk and violets. The generous palate displays nuances of papaya and grapefruit, and has a crisp, dry finish. A refreshing drink on a hot summer’s day – try it with smoked salmon or Thai beef salad.

The 2020 Vintage:
2020 was an unusual vintage. In a reversal of normal events, the hot and dry Spring and early Summer reverted to good rains in the new year for veraison and the lead up to harvest. Yields were very low, but fruit quality and ripening were excellent.
The Mourvèdre and Grenache were sourced from adjacent north-west facing slopes of our Dowd’s Lane vineyard. The Estate vines are unirrigated and yielded less than 1 tonne to the acre in 2020. They are cane-pruned by hand and wrapped to a single wire trellis to encourage some bunch shading during the heat of summer.
The fruit was harvested by hand. In the winery the fruit was destemmed, lightly crushed and pumped directly into a basket press, where the juice was separated from the solids. The juice was fermented in tank and without skins It was bottled after 6 months.
