GOLD (95pts) James Halliday Wine Companion

What a double celebration we are having with our premium Shiraz – 2018 The Hallmark winning double GOLD, plus taking out top in its category and eligible for Winestate’s Wine of the Year in December 2022.

There were 319 wines tasted by three wine industry peer judges evaluating the wines blind over two days for the World’s Greatest Shiraz Challenge.  Each wine was scored independently by each judge, the scores collated and using their ‘majority rules’ system a final score was achieved and translated into a star rating and points rating.

Out of the 319 Shiraz wines tasted, there were 223 wines (70%) awarded medals,  with only 5.6% (18 wines) given GOLD medals.

Silver Spoon Estate was the only Heathcote winery to be part of the Top 10 Winners across all categories in 2022, with seven winners from the Barossa Valley and two wineries from Clare Valley.  We also were number two in the Winestate’s Final Top 10 which is certainly an outstanding achievement.  Congratulations to Peter (our winemaker) for all his dedication and passion for making award winning wines for our wine lover family.

This award-winning wine is available now through our Wine Shop, with a minimum 3 bottle purchase.

Our 2018 The Ensemble – co-fermented Shiraz Viognier was also eligible for the World’s Greatest Shiraz Challenge with a SILVER Medal in its $35 - $40 bracket.  This wine also took out the “Wines of Victoria’  Award in July 2022 with Winestate Magazine with 96 points.  Congratulations Peter for a great
